Welcome to our first Get Published Weekly Roundup! Grad Student Freelancers (GSF) is dedicated to helping authors take care of the details of the publication process. Part of the process includes sifting through huge amounts of information to find important news, events, and tips that can give you an edge in the publication process. Every week GSF will provide three lists of curated information focused on helping writers get published. You can expect such things as listings of new agents who are building their lists, notices of approaching writing and submission deadlines, highlights from the past week’s Manuscript Wishlist, and more. Our goal is to gather what’s important from the web in the past week, so you can focus more on your writing.
New Agents Hired
Caroline Eisenmann, Associate Agent at Frances Goldin Literary Agency
Caroline Eisenmann joined the Frances Goldin Literary Agency as associate agent this week. She is building her list in:
Fiction: “novels that engage with social issues, stories about obsession, and work that centers around intimacy and its discontents”
Nonfiction: “reported narratives, literary memoir, cultural criticism, essay collections, and history and biography with a surprising point of view”

Who: Undergraduate Students
What: An essay that was written for an undergraduate class. (Literacy narratives, literary and other textual analyses, reports, profiles, evaluations, arguments, memoirs, proposals, mixed-genre pieces, etc.)

Fiction – Reading period ends Thursday, June 15th (Literary Magazine, fiction)
Recommendations: Stay under 5,000 words (although they will read longer submissions).
Looking for: Experimental works that appeal to a broad audience, new and seasoned writers, no poetry.

“Starting Over” issue of Creative Nonfiction – Submissions due Monday, June 19th (Literary Magazine, nonfiction)
Guidelines: must be an unpublished true story, 4000 words or less.
Focus: a true story about someone starting over, it can be personal or a story about someone else–“Above all, we are looking for narratives—true stories, rich with scene, character, detail, and a distinctive voice—that offer a fresh interpretation or unique insight into the theme.”
